Moody hands Curry 7th straight loss

CURRY — The Curry Yellow Jackets fell to Moody 48-20 on their homecoming Friday despite three touchdowns from Curry quarterback Jarrod Owens.

Moody opened the scoring after recovering an onside to start the game. It took Moody only five plays as Dee Williams scored on a 5-yard TD run with 10:29 remaining in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.

Curry mounted a drive on its first possession but was intercepted in the end zone to end the threat.

Williams scored his second TD of the, game with 8:06 left in first quarter, when he ran 37 yards for the score for a 14-0 advantage.

After a punt from Curry, Moody connected on a 78-yard pass with 5:02 left in the first quarter to make the score 21-0.

Following a Curry fumble, Moody’s offense converted a 4th-and-8 for a huge first down. This led to the third TD of the game for Williams as he ran it in from two yards out to make the score 28-0 with 1:42 left in the first quarter.

Curry’s third fumble led to another Moody TD. This time, Jake Crane ran it in from 4 yards out to put Moody up 35-0 just 1:06 into the second quarter.

Curry scored on its first TD of the game, on a Jarrod Owens 16-yard run, making the score 35-7 with 7:37 reaming until halftime.

Later in the quarter, Moody struck again, connecting on a 44-yard TD pass with 3:28 left before halftime for a 42-7 lead.  Curry took advantage of the second Moody miscue and scored on Owens’ second TD of the game, on a 5-yard run with 1:15 remaining in the third quarter.

Curry got another break on another Moody fumble. The Jackets scored their final touchdown on Owens’ 2-yard run to make the score 42-20 with 6:56 remaining in the game.

Moody rounded out the scoring with 2:14 in the game on a 1-yard TD run. The PAT was good and Moody was up 48-20.

Curry was led in rushing by Owens who ran for 80 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns. Tristan Westbrook added 45 yards on nine carries and Tristian Warren had six carries for 29 yards. Tanner Aldridge led in receiving with 4 receptions for 65 yards. Tristan Westbrook added 37 yards on two catches and Eric Niles had one catch for 13 yards. Owens was also 7-of-14 for 114 yards and two interceptions.

Curry (1-7, 0-6) will travel to Hayden week for its final region game of the year.
