High school volleyball: Walker wins pair; Cordova edges Carbon Hill

Walker's seventh-ranked volleyball team earned its 29th and 30th wins of the season at Songer Gymnasium on Thursday.

The Vikings (30-14) defeated Lawrence County (25-27, 25-20, 15-6) and Curry (25-20, 25-17, 25-23).

At Cordova, the Blue Devils improved to 22-9 with a narrow win over Carbon Hill. Cordova won the match 22-25, 25-14, 20-25, 25-18, 19-17.

For the Blue Devils, Faith Sims had 21 kills, four blocks, three digs and three aces while Katilyn Barnes had 13 aces, seven kills, two blocks and two digs.

For Carbon Hill, Tessa Ivey had 18 kills and four digs, Abby Tittle had 12 kills, three digs and two aces, Savanna Lawson had 12 kills and two aces.

Carbon Hill (22-19) plays in the Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa Tournament beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Cordova plays at Danville Tournament on Saturday.
