A week after playing Dora in the season opener, Cordova traveled to 10th-ranked Hamilton on Friday night.

Cordova was dealt a second straight lopsided loss. Hamilton’s offense proved too much for the Blue Devils in a 34-13 win.

The Aggies connected on three touchdown passes, all longer than 40 yards, in the first half and built a 27-7 halftime lead.  Garrett Woods scored on an 8-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter to put Cordova on the board.

He also added the Blue Devils second score — on a 3-yard run — in the fourth quarter.

The Blue Devils (0-2, 0-1) will try to pick up their first win of the season in their home opener next week against region foe Vinemont.

Bibb County 47, Carbon Hill 6

Bibb County opened up an early lead and pulled away from Carbon Hill in a 47-6 Class 4A, Region 4 victory Friday night at Centerville.

Carbon Hill dropped its 12th straight game dating back to last season.  The Bulldogs have now been outscored 89-20 in losses to Curry and Bibb County.

Carbon Hill got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter when Hunter NeSmith hit Evan Castle for a touchdown strike.

The Bulldogs (0-2, 0-1) now head home for three straight games — Jemison, Oak Grove and Winston County.
