Ellie Easter Allred “Shug” Key of Jasper exchanged time for eternity Friday, July 26, 2013 at the age of 89 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Funeral services will be today, July 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Victory Assembly of God with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sipsey. Steve Fowler and James Aaron will officiate. Visitation was Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the church.

Victory Assembly of God Church was formed in October 1962 and Ellie was at the first meeting of the church. On Nov. 25, 1962, when the church started accepting membership, Ellie was one of the first members to join the church, becoming a charter member of Victory Assembly of God.

While the church was a big part of her life, so was her community. She worked at Marshall Durbin for several years, but the majority of her life she owned and worked at the Pineywoods Community Store. In her life, she earned every title. A little short lady full of energy, always doing something for someone else, who loved everyone.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ocie Allred; mother, Maudie Bailey Allred; husband, Judge Thomas Key; sons, Delmus Key, George Key, Noah Key and Maburn Key; daughter, Cassie Pledger; grandchildren, Shane Key, Dan Williams and Mitchell Williams; great-grandchild, Rachel Hester; brothers, Wilburn Allred, Howard Allred, Raymond Allred, R.V. Allred and J.D. Allred; sisters, Lillian Allred, Hattie Mae Allred, Nellie Light and Dorothy Valerio.

She is survived by her daughters, Viola Williams (Leamon) of Bremen, Margie Burton (Jimmy) of Cullman and Charlene Key Painter of Jasper; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
