CW2 Jermaine Shontrel Cook, 40, of Alexandria, Va. made his transition on Saturday, July 20, 2013.

He was a native of Walker County, 1995 graduate of Cordova High School, 1999 graduate of Miles College, member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and 15 years in U.S. Army.

Service of memory will be Saturday at noon at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Cordova. Pastor Darren Allen will officiate, with interment on Monday in the Alabama National Cemetery Montevallo at 11:45 a.m.

His loving survivors are his devoted mother, Jacqueline Elaine Cook; children, Kevon Johnson and Island Carson; and brother, Jeremy Cook.

The remains will lie in repose today, Friday, July 26, 2013, from noon until 8 p.m. at Westside Funeral Home in Fairfield, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.
