A few years ago, Leneda Jones found out there were children in east Walker County that were going without food from the time they left school on Friday until they arrived back at school on Monday morning. Jones was horrified and decided to start a program to provide food for those children.
The group feeds local children by giving them a bag of easy-access food that they can prepare themselves over the weekend so they don't go hungry.
Although the program began in Sumiton and T.S. Boyd elementary schools, it has now spread to Cordova Elementary and into two of Jasper's Elementary Schools.
We hope that everyone will go support the organization in their fundraising or send them a donation because no child in our community should be without food.
