The family will be receiving family and friends at his home in Curry. Visitation will also be held Monday, June 10, 2013, from 6 until 7 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel.
Rick was employed with the Daily Mountain Eagle in Jasper as a pressman. He was a 1976 graduate of Carbon Hill High School and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army in Jasper.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jerusha Jane Jones Key; father, Paul Jones; mother, Maudie Madison Jones; father-in-law, Theron R. Watson Sr.; brother-in-law, Theron R. "Bubby" Watson Jr.; and numerous other relatives.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elane Watson Jones; two sons, Jason Jones and his wife Jenna, and Cory Jones, all of Curry; one grandson, Caden Key of Boldo; five brothers, Solon Jones and his wife Margaret of Jasper, John D. "Danny" Jones and his wife Pearl of Jasper, Jimmy Jones and his wife Shelby of Vance, James Carroll Jones and his wife Janet of Northport and Donald Jones and his wife Cheryl of Parrish; one sister, Linda Jones Walters and her friend James Potter of Salem; son-in-law, Justin Key of Boldo; mother-in-law, Ala Faye Watson of Curry; two brothers-in-law, William "Sonny" Watson of Curry and Stephen Watson and his wife Deanna of Wetumpka; sister-in-law, Vicki Gilbert and her husband Ken of Jasper; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends; and all of his Daily Mountain Eagle family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Jasper Salvation Army's Food Bank or Disaster Services.
