Thomas Leo “Tommy TJ” Jones, 56, of Jasper, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, May 31, 2013. He was preceded in death by grandparents, George and Katie Jones and Charlie and Annie Hicks; father, Thomas “Leo” Jones; and great-nephew, Hayden Drake Busby.

He is survived by his mother, Annette Jones; sister, LeAnne Jones Tyree; niece, Katie Lee “My Boy” Owens (TJ); nephew, Kory “Boy” Tyree; great-nephews, Macaleb Tyree and Jackson Owens; great-nieces, Riley Dailey and Madison Owens; and a host of family friends and caregivers.

His family moved to Jasper from Haleyville. He attended the Shrine School in Jasper from the age of six until he graduated at the age of 21. He then attended the Marion Bankhead Grant Center for five years. He was also at Partlow in Tuscaloosa for 15 years and then moved back to Jasper where he resided in an apartment in Boldo and attended the Arc of Walker County.

Over the years many wonderful people have come to know Tommy and to love and care for him as much as he loved them. He never met a stranger and he always had a big smile on his face. He will be missed so much but it is a blessing to know that just as soon as he left this world, he was walking and talking with God.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Collins-Burke parlor on Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
