The Daily Mountain Eagle has published a 32-page, magazine-style program titled “Presenting The Class of 2013.” More than 4,000 copies of the full-color program will be delivered to eight participating high schools today for distribution during their respective commencement ceremonies Friday and Sunday.
Participating schools include Walker High School, Sumiton Christian Academy and all six county schools, including Curry High School, Dora High School, Cordova High School, Parrish High School, Oakman High School and Carbon Hill High School.
“We encourage families to pick up multiple copies as keepsakes. We understand that families here in Walker County very well may know graduates at multiple commencement ceremonies but are unable to attend those ceremonies,” said Eagle Publisher Jack McNeely.
The program features graduating classes in alphabetical order. Each school section in the program includes blank autograph spaces where classmates may sign.
A limited supply of the programs is available for purchase at the Daily Mountain Eagle office located at 1301 East Viking Dr. in Jasper. At our office, the price per program is only $3.00, or purchase four for $10.
While the Daily Mountain Eagle is not charging each school for its respective supply of programs, it does encourage the schools to sell the programs as a school fundraiser. Schools may opt to price the programs differently.
In the meantime, the newspaper will also publish a special section in its Saturday edition, featuring black and white individual photos of all graduates.
McNeely said the Eagle is grateful to Bill Miller Photography for providing each of the senior portraits for the paper to publish.
