Born in Jasper, Alabama on October 20, 1925, Virgie lived as an adult in Jacksonville, Fla., Birmingham, Ala., and finally Deer Park, Texas. She cared for and helped raise her two grandchildren, and loved them very much. She loved playing bridge with her friends at the Maxwell Center in Deer Park. She was an avid reader and passed that love of reading on to her daughter. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. She will be missed by many.
Virgie is preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Carson Stewart; parents, John Jackson Holt and Ruby Hardin Holt; sisters, Virginia Holt and Lena Holt; son-in-law, Randall Allen Nally. She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Stewart Nally; granddaughter, Lisa Gayle Nally; grandson, Darryl James Nally; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Ann Bayliss; brother, Ronald David Holt and his wife Jerry Ann; brother, Jimmie Lynn Holt; and niece Allison Holt Kelley.
