Rita Jo Lewis Fikes, 68, of Eldridge, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. Fikes was born on June 27, 1944, in Rockwell County, Texas, a daughter of Leon Lewis and Pearly Inez Luna Lewis. She was a 1962 graduate of Mt. Miguel High School in San Diego, Calif., and co-owner of Fikes Grocery on Highway 13 for nearly 35 years. She was the widow of Clovis Duval Fikes Jr., her husband of 50 years who died on Dec. 19, 2012. Her church affiliation was Baptist.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Delwyn Lewis; and four sisters, Jeanette Prince, Patsy Harrell, Shirley Williams and Charlotte Lewis.

Survivors include three sons, Glyn Fikes of Pilot Point, Texas, Dennis Fikes of Eldridge and Phillip Fikes of Moody; one sister, Becky Pilkington of Texas; one sister-in-law, Regina Baughn and her husband, Terry, of Tennessee; one brother-in-law, David Fikes and his wife, Paulette, of Eldridge; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home of Winfield. C.W. Box will officiate. Burial will follow at Colburn Cemetery.
