Douglas Edward Haney, 57, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Sumiton, entered into rest on Friday, March 8, 2013.

He was born on Sept. 22, 1955, in Sipsey. Douglas served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed reading and fishing.

Visitation will be held today, March 13, 2013, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashridge.

Haney is survived by his son, Gareth Haney Lyons; daughter, Miranda Marie Haney Lyons; brothers, Donald (Jenny) Haney, Deryl (Cristle "Sam") Haney, Dexter Haney, Ansel Haney, and Wayne (Sue) Haney; sisters, Janice (Russel) Watson and Fonda Jean (John) Henderson; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Moncelluie Apostol Haney; father, Dewey E. Haney; mother, Margie Marie Williams Haney; step-mother, Tressie Ive Posey Haney; brothers, Drexel Shane Haney, Jessie Willard Haney; and sister, Gail Haney Fountain.
