He graduated from Corner High School in 1960, where he enjoyed playing football and basketball. He was a successful businessman for the last 25 years of his life.
Fortenberry was a loving husband and father; no matter what life brought him, his positive outlook prevailed.
He is preceded in death by both parents, Otis and Inez Fortenberry; two brothers, Johnny and Larry Fortenberry; and one sister, Brenda Bennett.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Debra Rogers Fortenberry; his sons, Tommy McNeil Fortenberry (Cindy), Johnny Fortenberry (Carol) and Spencer Chase Rogers (Erika); grandchildren, Jason Fortenberry, Jennifer Fortenberry and Harper Skye Rogers; sister: Kathy Pope of Sumiton; nieces, Kristen Smith, Marissa, Cierra and Bella; and his beloved dog, Bear.
Funeral services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Tuesday Feb. 26, 2013 at 2 p.m. There will be a visitation held on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. Internment will take place at Valhalla Cemetery.
