William R. “Pete” Earnest, 65, of Jasper, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11 at 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home with burial to follow at New Prospect Cemetery. Clint Wilhite will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Johnson; mother, Armilla Pickrell; brother, Billy Johnson; and father-in-law, Tom McCarty.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Tommie Earnest; son, Billy Earnest and his wife, Pat; daughter, Sherri Brooks; grandchildren, Anna Earnest, Ty Brooks, Cole Brooks and Gage Brooks; sisters, Jean Faulkner, Shelia Whitfield Ferguson and her husband, Ken; brother-in-law, Gary Whitfield; sisters-in-law, Agness Knowles and her husband, Jim; Pat Day and her husband, Don; Betty Baker and her husband, James, and Kris Fuller and her husband, Greg; mother-in-law, Christine McCarty; and many loving family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Mike “Lightweight” Lockhart, Jimmy Hodge, Carlon Kilgore, Herman Clark, Jerry Bean and Johnny Smith.

Honorary pallbearer will be Don “Chigger” Phillips.
