Visitation will be held Friday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Woods was preceded in death by his grandchild, Jeremy Smith; parents, Martin and Julia Woods; father and mother-in-law, Charlie and Exie Pugh.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Ann Woods of Oakman; daughters, Karen Stephens (Ray), Linda Kilgore and Sharon Craven (Tim); son, Chris Woods; grandchildren, Whitney Kilgore, Sydney Woods, Jolie Woods, Hayden Woods, Philip Craven and Benjamin Craven; great-grandchildren, Victoria Craven and Cassie Craven; sisters, Lynell Graham, Shirley Tubbs and Loretta Woods.

Woods was a member of New Hope Church of Christ and Midway Church of Christ. He was a member of Oakman Lions Club, and Army veteran, author of poetry books, and an avid bluegrass musician, and promoted and sponsored Boy Scouts of America. He sought first the Kingdom of Heaven, and prepared to meet his Heavenly Father all his life. He was a faithful, dedicated husband, father and grandfather who loved his family. He was a great friend and always put the feelings of others first and he had a humble heart. He loved to spend time in his garden and shared its bounty with family and friends. My heart is broken today for I lost my best friend and partner. An empty place will always be in my heart forever. My brother and sisters are so blessed and honored to be his children.
