Larry Glen Gay, 59, of Jasper, left this world to be with our father in Heaven on Feb. 2, 2013. He was born on Feb. 10, 1953, in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Walker High School in 1970 and served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1977. He was employed with Alabama Power Company for 35 years with the last seven years as superintendent at Smith Lake Dam.

Larry was truly one of a kind with his gentle nature, strength and baritone voice. He was a loving husband, father and son. He was a member of the Lamon Chapel Lodge 723. He will be laid to rest at Walker Memory Gardens with military honors and Masonic honors.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Parlor. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Walker Memory Gardens. Doug Haynes will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his father, William “Tom” Gay; son, Bobby Odom; and mother-in-law, Helen Thompson.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Beverly Gay; son, Andrew Ryan Gay; mother, Sara Estell Gay; brothers, Gary Gay (Lisa) and Tommy Gay (Mary Ann); grandchildren, Alex Odom, Andrew Walker and Josh Key; father-in-law, Ed Thompson; brother-in-law, Allen Thompson; and nieces, Natasha Gay, Amanda Thompson Remer and Devonn Lindsey Thompson.
