A Jasper man was arrested and charged earlier this week for sexually assaulting a juvenile in September 2012.

Brian Michael Freeman, 32, was arrested Monday and charged with sexual torture, second-degree sexual assault and second-degree sodomy. Walker County District Attorney Bill Adair said the victim was a juvenile between the ages of 12 and 16.

“This is a serious case that does involve a minor,” Adair said. “Due to that, we can’t release a lot of information, but Jasper police have been able to obtain physical evidence that led to this arrest.”

Adair said Det. Betty Smith was the lead investigator in the case for the Jasper Police Department.

The acts that led to the arrest reportedly happened in September in a wooded area in Jasper, Adair said.

Freeman is being held on a total bond of $108,000 cash in relation to these three charges.

Freeman was already being held in the Walker County Jail on burglary and theft charges in association with a recent home burglary.
