Dr. Forrest Scogin and Dr. Marguerite Malone of Tuscaloosa announce the engagement of their daughter, Melanie Lorayne Scogin, to Arthur Wesley Williams, the son of George and Trenia Palmer of Addison.

The wedding will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Battle Friedman House in Tuscaloosa.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Agnes Scogin and the late Roy Scogin of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., the late Carlyle and Thelma Lorayne Elliott of Chattanooga, Tenn., and the late Melanie Konowalow.

She is a 2009 graduate of Tuscaloosa Academy and attended the University of West Alabama, where she was a member of the rodeo team. She is currently a student at the University of Alabama and is self-employed as a horse riding instructor at M&W Farm in Cottondale.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Jean Geeslin and the late Alton Geeslin of Jasper.

He is a 2004 graduate of Addison High School. He is employed at Tractor and Equipment Company in Tuscaloosa and is co-owner of M&W Farm in Cottondale.
