Willie Nelle Wade, 97, of Jasper, passed away at Ridgeview Health Services on Jan. 8, 2013.

She was born on July 13, 1915, in Fayette, to Willie Emil and Maude Belle Key Herzig. She was married to Fletcher Rowland Wade in 1930.

She was a member of Sixth Avenue Church of Christ for more than 50 years, serving on the teaching staff specializing in the Ladies Bible Class as well as many home Bible studies. She was a faithful supporter of her husband, who served as an elder at 6th Avenue for 40 years. She was active in food preparation for the sick, shut-ins and bereaved, along with many other good deeds.

She is predeceased by her loving husband and parents; sisters, Vera Belle Melcher Fike and Louise Herzig; brothers, Emil, Lincoln, Robert and William Herzig; sisters-in-law, Cecil Karrah Herzig and Jacqueline Johnson Herzig; brothers-in-law, Carlos Melcher and Arley Fike; and sons-in-law, Brodie Plyler and Raymond Kimbrell.

She is survived by her sisters, Annie Lois Hicks (Oather) and Martha Marie “Sally” Dobbs (Buford); sister-in law, Rachel Burkett Herzig; children, Betty Plyler, JoAn Gurganus (L.T.), and David Wade (Helen White); as well as a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
