Several of the small businesses located in the English Plaza/Village in Jasper have joined together to host a Christmas Open House on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 6 until 8 p.m., which will include a visit with Santa, free refreshments and the chance to register for free giveaways.

Businesses taking part in the Christmas Open House include Rastore Day Spa, Sunny Side Tanning, The Keyhole Boutique, Security Finance, Northland Hearing, Check Advance, EZ Inches, Dr. Ron Brown’s Dentist/Orthodontist Office, Enjoy Health Foods, Yong’s Hair Center and It’s So-o-o Easel.

One of the event’s organizers, Bennett Boylen, said the owners of the businesses decided to put on the event in an effort to bring more awareness to the small businesses in Jasper.

“A lot of people in Jasper don’t realize that we’re even here, because of our location, and we wanted to draw more attention to that, and get the community together to celebrate the holiday season,” Boylen, who co-owns Rastore Day Spa with Karen Guthrie, said. “And Dr. Ron Brown did a really great job of putting all the lights in the trees, which makes everything look so Christmasy and festive, especially at night.”

Boylen said Santa Claus will be at the center of all the action Saturday along with plenty of other local entertainment.

“Santa will be set up in the parking lot between Rastore Spa and Sunny Side Tanning, and we’ll also have live entertainment,” Boylen said. “The Sassy Stompers will be performing, singers from Hope House Church will be singing traditional Christmas carols, the folks from Fitness Factory will be doing Zumba to Christmas music and the Athletics Arts Center will perform excerpts from the Nutcracker. So we hope everyone will come out and join us.”
