She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Levan; son, Kenny Dwight Slaten; beloved son-in-law, Jose Terradas; mother and inspiration, Dovie Cross Mason; and father, Jack Mason.
She is survived by her husband, Dwight E. Slaten; and she was blessed with four healthy beloved children, Bryan Levan, Lee Ann Terradas, Johnny Levan and Dianne Kuykendall. She was also given 12 grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. They were Heather and Melvin Teachworth, Matthew and Sarah Cuellar, Tiffany Terradas, Rachel Nolan, Yolanda Guerra, Andrew Levan, Stephanie Levan, Stacey Chambers, Chris Melcher and Amy Melcher. God also blessed her by leaving her here long enough for her to know and love 20 great-grandchildren. Special relatives and friends whom she loved are Joan Black, Teresa Levan, Ruby Levan, Ruby Levan, Emily Melcher, Bryan Nolan and Kevin Chambers; among to many others to name. We were blessed to have the pleasure of knowing her at all. She’s finally home.
Helen Ruth Slaten, 73, of Cordova, passed away on Dec. 2, 2012, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Dec. 4, 2012, at the funeral home. Her service is Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Chapel. Burial will follow the services at New Horizon Cemetery. The Rev. Lynn Hitt will officiate.
