Miller-Hendon

Michael and Amy Keeton of Jasper and Bryan and Belinda Miller of Roanake, Va., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Kayla Miller, to Craig Hendon, the son of David and JoAnne Hendon of Jasper.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Carolyn Miller of Alabaster, and Edward and the late Margaret Stephens of Carbon Hill.

She is a 2009 graduate of Walker High School and is attending Bevill State ADN school. She is currently a LPN at Cordova Health & Rehab.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Ola Wakefield of Jasper, Mr. Gene Hendon of Arley, the late Mrs. Katherine Hendon of Arley and the late Mr. William Stone.

He is a 2005 graduate of Curry High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama. He is currently employed with the Walker County Board of Education as a teacher and coach at Oakman Middle School.

The wedding will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Northside Baptist Church. A reception will follow at Musgrove Country Club.

Thornley-Sparrow

Mr. and Mrs. John Brent Thornley of Jasper are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lisbeth Caroline Thornley, to Dr. James Allen Sparrow, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Sparrow of Hawkinsville, Ga.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Walter Maddox of Jasper, the late Mr. and Mrs. James Albert Ball of Evergreen and the late Mr. John Hunter Thornley of Evergreen.

Ms. Thornley graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor of science in nursing and earned a masters in nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She works as a certified registered nurse practioner at American Family Care in Birmingham.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Allen Wilson Holder of Hawkinsville, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Joseph Sparrow Sr. of Hawkinsville, Ga.

Dr. Sparrow completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia and earned his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. Dr. Sparrow currently practices at UAB Hospital as a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist and serves as an assistant professor in the UAB School of Medicine.

The wedding will be on Dec. 15, 2012, at 5 p.m. at Shoal Creek Country Club in Birmingham.
