Harold Elzie Black, 88, of Tupelo, Miss., died on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born on July 16, 1924, in Jasper, to James Riley and Velia Privett Black. He loved his Airstream trailer and traveled with Era throughout the U.S and Canada and enjoyed getting lost. He loved his family and his church. He enjoyed his newfound friends at the American Legion every Friday. He was an avid gardener and loved to cook and baked a cake every day. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Harrisburg Baptist Church with the Rev. David Smith officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Era Chris Jones Black; one daughter, Melinda Trapp (Dr. James Trapp) of Pontotoc; two sons, H. Lee Black MD. of Mansfield, Texas and Jimmy Black (Jolene) of Frankinton, La.; three brothers, Carl Black (Ilene) of Jasper, Ben Black (Joy) of Birmingham and Wendell Black (Sarah) of North Carolina; one sister, Carrie Mae Black of Jasper; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Eldred Black.
