Nelson-Knowles

Willie and Nelda Nelson of Carbon Hill are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Malinda Ann Nelson, to Justin Michael Knowles, the son of Michael and Tammy Knowles of Cordova.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Richard Lee and the late Vera Barron, and the late William Nelson Jr. and the late Frances Nelson.

She attended Carbon Hill High School. She is currently is employed at Wal-Mart in Jasper.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Jerry and the late Pat Sherer of Jasper, and Jim and Agness Knowles of Cordova.

He attended Walker High School. He is currently employed at Wal-Mart in Sumiton. He is a firefighter with Boldo Fire Department.

The wedding will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Samaria Baptist Church.

Annang - Ingram

Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Annang are pleased to announce the engagement of Lucy Annang of Columbia, S.C., to Corey D. Ingram of Jasper.

Lucy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Annang of Calumet Park, Ill. Corey is the son of Mr. Dwight Ingram and Ms. Shirley Mitchell and the grandson of the late Mr. Nathaniel McElrath and Mrs. Sarah McElrath of Jasper.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Emory University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is employed with the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.

The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Miles College and the University of Alabama and is also employed with the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.

The couple was engaged during a traditional Ghanaian ceremony held on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, in Calumet Park, Ill.

A couples tea (bridal shower) will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Lueada Meadows Smith Center located on Crutchfield Boulevard in Jasper. The tea is hosted by Ms. Sybil Ingram, Ms. Sandi Sudduth, family and friends.

The wedding is planned for May 27, 2012, at the Mayo A.M.E. Church in Matteson, Ill. A reception will immediately follow at Odyssey Country Club in Tinley Park, Ill.

Tucker-Foltz

Garry Tucker of Reece City and Theresa Trotter Tucker of Rainbow City, formerly of Jasper, are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Alana Nicole Tucker, to Matthew Foltz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg (Marsha) Foltz of Ludlow, Ky.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Walker County Sheriff Jack Trotter and the late Nora Trotter of Jasper. Alana is a 2003 graduate of Emma Sansom High School. Alana graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and received her master’s in health education/promotion in 2009, both from the University of Alabama. She did her dietetic internship at the University of Kentucky. Alana is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

The perspective groom attended Covington Catholic Private School and went to Thomas More College. He received his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky.

The wedding will be on Oct. 6, 2012, at Dorgan’s Inn in Point Clear, Alabama. Formal invitations will be sent.

Johnson-Gunter

Johnny and Andrea Johnson of Jasper, along with Brent and Dana McCarver of Jasper, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jordanna Johnson, to Chase Gunter, the son of Barry and Pam Gunter of Jasper.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Jim and Sybil Prescott of Carbon Hill, and Harlis and Linda Johnson of Jasper. She is the great-granddaughter of Louise Prescott of Carbon Hill.

She is a 2008 graduate of Walker High School and a graduate of Bevill State Community College where she obtained an associate degree (RN) in the nursing program. She is currently employed with After Hours Clinic.

The prospective groom is grandson of Linda Cain and the late Rex Cain of Jasper, Paul and Mary Jo Gunter of Jasper, L.B. Johnston and the late Joan Johnston of Jasper.

He is a 2008 graduate of Walker High School and a graduate of Bevill State Community College where he obtained an associate degree (RN) in the nursing program. He is currently employed with Walker Baptist Medical Center.

The wedding will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Rosewood in Pinson.
