Richard Lacy “R.L.” Smith, 82, of Jasper, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at his residence. Graveside services are Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Patton Hill Cemetery in Oakman. Visitation is Monday, May 7, 2012, 6:30-9 p.m., at the Collins-Burke Funeral Home parlor. Michael Lollar will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Edd A. Smith; wife, Sara Nell Smith; sister, Betty Smith McDonald; and son, Jerry Lynn Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela L. (Michael) Lollar; sons, Roger E. (Carol) Smith, Terry W. Smith and Richard J. (Stephanie) Smith; sister, Shirley Rigsby; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Larry McDonald, Steve Rigsby, Chris Rigsby, Nick Davis, Terry Smith, Brandon Smith, Joseph McDonald and Nick Smith.
