Three out-of-towners who allegedly decided to make a quick stop in Jasper to smoke marijuana inside a convenience store bathroom are now being held inside the city's jail facing multiple drug charges.

Bradley Combs, 27, and Brandon Combs, 29, both of Cullman, along with Joseph Edward Elliott, 31, of Northport, were arrested Tuesday morning when a clerk inside a Jasper gas station called police after noticing the three men going into the business' small bathroom together.

James Lester and Mike Crawford, day-shift patrol officers with the Jasper Police Department, arrived at the business minutes after the call from the clerk.

Lester said they found the three men locked inside the bathroom.

"The clerk opened the door for us and we took them into custody without any incident," Lester said. "They said they had just stopped to smoke a joint."

Officers seized a quarter-pound of marijuana, hydrocodone pills, methadone pills and cash from the men and charged each with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, trafficking methadone, first degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All three men are being held in the Jasper City Jail awaiting their warrants being executed. At that time, they will be transferred to the Walker County Jail.

Lt. Mike Clark, JPD day-shift supervisor, said the responding officers did an outstanding job.

"Everything they did was by the book," he said. "These guys (day-shift officers) don't get a lot of credit some times for the jobs they do, and I think they did a great job. We are also thankful for the information given to us by the clerk at the store. Without that information, we couldn't have made this arrest."
