Two weeks from the season opener, Walker fans and coaches got their first look at the 2011 version of the Walker Vikings Friday night.

Walker held its first scrimmage under the lights

at Ki-Ro Gambrell Field.

The Vikings enter the season with plenty of question marks, especially at skill positions after losing their top receiver/defensive back Jaquese Kirk as well as starting running back Brandon Douglas.

The top returning offensive weapon is quarterback Carson Roberts, who threw 24 touchdown passes last season.

On Friday, running back Tyler Phillips shined, scoring the first touchdown of the night. Running back Kevin Clay and Roberts also had long runs for the Vikings.

Walker will be under the lights again on Thursday during their spring jamboree at Cordova High School. The Vikings won last year's meeting 31-7 in one half of varsity play.

Thursday's game kicks off at 7 p.m. from Hudson-Kirby Stadium.

Walker opens the regular season the following Thursday at home against Class 6A Northridge.
