SUMITON – East Walker Chamber Director Chee-Vee Whitfield spoke on the East Walker Grief Support Group at the monthly chamber meeting Tuesday.
The grief support group is one of the organizations that EWCC supports. The group meets bi-monthly on Tuesdays at the Sumiton Community Center. The East Walker Grief Support group consists of individuals who have lost spouses and are working to rebuild their lives, according to Whitfield. Experienced counselors provide members an opportunity to explore grief issues in a private, and confidential setting. The group’s educational and support services are free.
Additional services are available through the Community Grief Support office in Homewood, according to Whitfield.
“Ultimately, grief affects us all,” Whitfield said. “You may feel that no one understands what you’re going through at this traumatic time of your life, but you don’t have to face the pain of loss alone.”
Anyone interested in finding out more information about the East Walker Grief Support group can contact Whitfield at the chamber office by calling 205-255-0202.
In other action, the chamber:
• Welcomed three new members. Mr. B’s Car Wash, R&H Plumbing, and Amy Walls of Sumiton Family Dentistry.
• Heard Whitfield report that the chamber replaced the landline with a new cell phone which cut the monthly phone bill from $95 to $35 per month. The number is the same – 205-255-0202.
• Heard Whitfield report that the next Meet & Greet is at Sumiton. She will share the details once they are firmed up with the city.
