The Walmart Supercenter in Jasper on Friday held a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting after its 12-week remodeling project, which features expanded departments and a new grocery pickup service. Long-time employee Teresa Eads, who also sang the National Anthem, was allowed to cut the ribbon. District Manager Brandon Garth presented a plaque to store manager Chris Rhodes as the store was the Region 14 Store of the Year for 2019. Rhodes thanked customers for their patience, noting, “This remodel has been very successful.” Jasper Mayor David O’Mary reminded the crowd that the local Walmart was the first to open in Alabama in 1979. “You have made a tremendous impact on Jasper, Alabama,” he said.
