Walker County Sports Hall of Fame inducts Class of 2018 on Saturday

Fifteen new members of the Walker County Sports Hall of Fame will be inducted Saturday at New Prospect Baptist Church's Family Life Center, located off Hwy. 5.

The ceremony is free to the public and will begin at 6 p.m.

This year's inductees include Kellye Jordan-Bowen, Curry High School; Glen Clem Jr., Walker High School; Tommy Cole, Walker High School; Landon Darty, Carbon Hill High School; Jeffery "Bryne" Diehl, Oakman High School; Andrew Pete Howell, Walker County Training School; James Hubbert, Curry High School; Pat Morrison, Walker High School; Claude "Cupe" Perry, Walker High School; Andrew Rice, Sumiton Christian School; James Horace Roberts, Dora High School; Adam Russell, Dora High School; Ronnie Shaw, Walker College; Allen Stephenson, T.W. Martin High School and Dr. Buddy L. Thorne, Cordova High School.

There will now be a total of 85 hall of famers. The first class was inducted in 2015.

The Walker County Sports Hall of Fame will hold its grand opening at 10 a.m. on Dec. 15 at its new home - the Townley Community Center. Those interested in donating memorabilia from Walker County may call Clayton Mehearg at 205-522-0956 or Pat Morrison at 205-913-1129.
