Vote results released for General Election

The unofficial election totals for Tuesday's General Election in Walker County have been released by the Walker County Probate Judge's Office, along with state results from the Secretary of State's Office. 

With 46 of 47 boxes counted (provisionals will be counted next week, making the vote official), a total of 23,287 ballots were cast out of 47,621 registered voters, for a turnout of 48.9 percent. A total of 9,862 Republican straight ticket ballots and 1,990 Democratic straight ticket ballots were cast. 

State results indicate 1,721,906 votes were cast across Alabama out of 3,457,572 voters, with a statewide turnout of 49.8 percent. 

Governor: Walt Maddox (D), 5,453 (23.57 percent); Kay Ivey (R), 17,643, (76.26 percent); 38 write-ins. Statewide: Maddox, 691,671 (40.36 percent); Ivey, 1,019,558 (59.49 percent). 

Lieutenant governor: Will Boyd (D), 4,328 (18.95 percent); Will Ainsworth (R), 18,496 (80.97 percent); 20 write-ins. Statewide: Boyd, 657,220 (38.65 percent); Ainsworth, 1,042,032 (61.29 percent).

U.S. Representative, 4th Congressional District: Lee Auman (D), 4,097 (17.82 percent); Robert Aderholt (R), 18,869 (82.08 percent); 23 write-ins. Districtwide: Auman, 46,370 (20.11 percent); Aderholt, 183,958 (79.79 percent). 

Attorney General: Joseph Siegelman (D), 5,543 (24.21 percent); Steve Marshall (R), 17,337 (75.71 percent); 18 write-ins. Statewide: 699,988 (41.11 percent); Marshall, 1,001,621 (58.82 percent). 

State Senator, District 5: Greg J. Reed (R), 19,515 (98.68 percent); 262 write-ins. Districtwide: Reed, 42,356 (98.84 percent). 

State Representative, District 13: Connie Cooner Rowe (R), 11,736 (98.51 percent); 178 write-ins. Districtwide: Rowe, 13,748 (98.64 percent). 

State Representative, District 14: Tim Wadsworth (R), 7,640 (98.71 percent); 100 write-ins. Districtwide: Wadsworth, 13,387 (98.96 percent). 

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court: Bob Vance, Jr. (D), 5,659 (24.88 percent) (Most votes for a Democrat); Tom Parker (R), 17,069 (75.04 percent); 19 write-ins. Statewide: Vance, 720,272 (42.52 percent); Parker, 972,776 (57.42 percent). 

Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Place 1: Sarah Hicks Stewart (R), 18,951 (99.01 percent); 189 write-ins. Statewide: Hicks, 1,087,043 (96.8 percent). 

Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Place 2: Tommy Bryan (R), 18,834 (99.01 percent); 189 write-ins. Statewide: 1,085,596 (96.88 percent).
