Two local fatality wrecks occur over holiday

Alabama State Troopers reported two fatality accidents in Walker County over the past holiday timeframe.

A single-vehicle crash at 11:50 a.m., Thursday claimed the life of a Sumiton woman and a Montgomery man, according to a trooper spokesman. Anna E. Jent, 20, and Justin M. Yancey, 20, were killed when the 2007 Toyota Camry she was driving exited the roadway and collided with a tree. Jent and Yancey were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred on Empire Road, 3 miles north of Empire.

Also, a spokesman for troopers said a single vehicle crash also claimed the life of a Tennessee woman Sunday. The crash occurred on U.S. Interstate 22 near Carbon Hill at approximately 6:55 am. A 2007 Jeep Commander, driven and owned by Dora Youngblood of Memphis, struck a bridge rail before leaving the road and overturning.

Several of the vehicle’s six passengers were unrestrained and ejected. One of those passengers, Keaveuna Youngblood, 24, also of Memphis, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further details were available as troopers continue to investigate the two accidents.
