Third Walker County football Media Day set for Wednesday

Posted

Players and coaches from all seven schools in the county will converge on Five Loaves Bakery in Jasper for the third annual PrepZone Walker County Football Media Day on Wednesday, beginning at 11 a.m.

Media representatives from both the local and regional area have been invited and fans are welcomed to attend the event to show support for their schools.

Coaches making their first appearances this year are Carbon Hill’s Chavis Williams, Cordova’s Justin Jones, Curry’s Jeff Foshee, Oakman’s Ryan Hall and Sumiton Christian’s David Powell.

“Walker County Media Day is an event that football fans in our area have quickly embraced, which has added to the excitement of the event,” DME Publisher James Phillips said. “It has become the official kickoff to the high school football season in Walker County. We are expecting a good turnout this season as far as media members, and we have a full slate of area coaches and players scheduled to attend.

“Moving this event to Five Loaves was a no-brainer. They have the perfect space for us to put on a first-class event, and the coaches and players will surely enjoy the food provided. We also want to welcome other fans and parents to come out to listen to their favorite teams live and order some great food. If they can’t be there live, watch on the Daily Mountain Eagle Facebook page.”

Jasper, with coach Bryan Moore, will open up this year’s media day at 11 a.m. and will be followed by Carbon Hill at 11:30 p.m., Oakman at noon, Curry at 1:30 p.m. Sumiton Christian at 1 p.m., Dora at 1:30 p.m. and Cordova at 2 p.m.
