TALLULAH LEADS to Warehouse 319

Warehouse 319, owned by seven community-minded families, sits right in the middle of Downtown Jasper.  If I’m not leading Mike to it, I’m leading him past it.  Named for the property’s address, near 3rd Avenue and on 19th Street, this family restaurant boasts one of the friendliest staffs in town.

I walk into this very cool place, which is legal because Mike is a service human, and see one of the restaurants that gave Jasper Main Street a kick-start with downtown revitalization in 2014.  Formerly Kay’s, a clothing store for women for approximately 65 years, this gutted and renovated building now has a very urban cookhouse look with exposed brick and rafters along with vintage and hand-made light fixtures.  Much of that credit goes to Amy Dill of Sycamore Grove in Downtown Jasper who decorates for many people in Jasper and beyond, including Mike.

Of course, everyone knows my name — what other English Creme Retrievers write for a newspaper?  The staff at WH319 knows most customers’ names; and if you’re a visitor, they will know your name before you leave.  Robbin Sears, General Manager, along with the owners and employees, has created a family.  Robbin’s smile lights up the restaurant when she welcomes in the diners.  Robbin, who previously worked for the City of Jasper, originated her position at WH319 when an owner approached her because of her restaurant experience and her passion for the business and our community.  With this family being created, jobs and commerce have also been created in Downtown Jasper.

Also in the family is Seth Lockhart, Downtown Jasper’s snappiest dressing bartender who celebrates the weekend with Suspenders Saturday and in cooler weather dons a cravat for Bow Tie Saturday.  He’s the guy that when you walk in after a long day, he doesn’t ask you what you want — he knows your preferred drink and just puts it in front of you.  He also creates craft cocktails upon request.  Recently married to Jennifer, Seth and his new bride celebrated their wedding reception at WH319 with the rest of the family.

Visit WH319 any day Tuesday-Saturday but know their great food and activities are featured on different nights:  Taco Tuesday and $10 wine; Wing Wednesday; Thursday is Family Game Night playing bingo and trivia alternately; Friday night has live music; and Saturdays are busy with feeding customers who are attending events in Downtown Jasper.  Go for lunch and enjoy their Daily Meat & 3 while watching one of their 11 big screen televisions.  Enjoy their hand-cut steaks, burgers, seafood platters, salads, homemade desserts, and their dressings and sauces made in-house.  You can also call them to cater your next event.
