Tallulah leads a trek to The Sly Fox

Editor's note: This lighthearted column, submitted by Mike Putman on behalf of Tallulah, will take readers behind the scenes of area businesses. It will appear bimonthly on the Eagle's Business page.

As you know if you’ve seen us on the streets of Downtown Jasper, I, Miss Tallulah Bankhead Putman, lead your Jasper Main Street Director, not the other way around. That’s what he gets for naming me Tallulah. We, with Mike being dragged behind, take daily treks around town to speak to our downtown members, run errands, have lunch, shop, get a haircut and just general “flourishing.”

I recently chose to lead Mike to The Sly Fox Aesthetics & Wellness Day Spa, located at 400 19th Street in Downtown Jasper, where we spoke with McKenna Sligh and her fiance’, Jeremiah Jackson of Red Beard Home Solutions.

Originally from Carbon Hill, McKenna’s decision three years ago to bring her day spa to Downtown Jasper has been one of the best decisions of her professional life, and certainly Downtown Jasper has benefitted from the increased foot traffic.

And while I can go on and on (and I will a little later) about The Sly Fox’s amenities, it’s important to see the real canines, I mean people, behind our Jasper Main Street businesses.

Sylvie Rosa, McKenna’s 3-year old daughter, has been the star employee at The Sly Fox from the beginning. While McKenna was painting and preparing for her grand opening in 2016, Sylvie was three-months old strapped in her Pack n’ Play intently watching her mommy turn that first location on Commerce Avenue into a spa. And if you ever want to see beautiful Sylvie Rosa, scroll over to Aunt Tana’s social media pages; proud aunt to say the least!  Tana posts as many pictures of Sylvie as Mike posts of me! And on a side note, Tana also has a Tallulah who leads her.

Downtown Jasper has also been the backdrop for another important person in McKenna’s life, her fiance’ Jeremiah. Meeting at downtown’s annual car show Ridez for a Reason, McKenna and Jeremiah began their whirlwind romance, and he eventually popped the question (you guessed it) in Downtown Jasper at Warehouse 319.

This Jasper Main Street member was chosen as Best Day Spa in 2018 and 2019 and has added nine employees since its humble beginnings on Commerce Avenue while business has grown over 700 percent since 2016. Visit them at their downtown location or at www.TheSlyFoxJasper.com for more details about massage therapy, body treatments, skincare treatments, full body waxing, airbrush spray tan and so much more!

Women are flowing through The Sly Fox, and you should be one of them. And as McKenna always says, BE FOXY!

P.S. The Sly Fox’s Jasper Main Street water bowl for me and my kind was clean with fresh water. I’d give it a 10! Get those water bowls ready because you never know where I’ll lead next in Downtown Jasper! Pawtographs later, Dahling!
