Southern Union rallies for OT win over Bevill

The Southern Union Bison outscored the Bevill State Bears 14-3 in overtime to clinch a 75-64 win on Monday night at Glen Clem Gymnasium.

Wanya King led the Bears in scoring with 18 points, while Peyton Woods had a double-double performance of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Earnest Medlock added nine points and six rebounds.

The opening half saw four lead changes, with the Bison up by a point at the break, 27-26.

The Bears battled back in the second half, regaining the lead by two points, 33-31, then continuing to connect on shots until Bevill held a 14-point advantage, 50-36.

Southern Union seized momentum and went on a 25-11 run to close out regulation tied at 61-61.

In the overtime period, the Bears were able to score just three points while the Bison had 14 points en route to the 75-64 win.

Bevill State (8-16, 3-7) travels to Boaz on Saturday to face the Snead State Parsons at 7 p.m.

The final home game comes against Gadsden State on Monday, Feb. 19.
