Curry made the most of its opportunity on Friday night against Haleyville at Hudson-O’Rear Stadium.

Needing a victory to solidify their playoff hopes the Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 19-0 lead and earned a 27-13 victory over the Lions.

Curry got a stellar defensive effort in the victory, registering four sacks and returning an interception for a touchdown.

Nate South led the Yellow Jackets. One week after sealing a win with a fumble return for a score against Hanceville, South had 11 tackles and four quarterback hurries as Curry defeated the Lions for the first time since 2002.

South is the Daily Mountain Eagle’s Defensive Player of the Week.

South wasn’t alone as the Jackets got impressive performances across the board. Ross Kuriger had nine tackles and a sack, Jody Hester had 10 tackles and Aaron Oswalt took the interception 57 yards for a score.
