The death of a 25-year-old Jasper man is being investigated as a homicide, Walker County Sheriff Jim Underwood said Friday.

Dustin Michael Alexander, 25, died Tuesday at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. A preliminary autopsy report determined that Alexander died of blunt force trauma to the head, according to Underwood.

Underwood said Alexander was discovered by his half-sister at the end of his grandmother’s driveway at 6181 Highway 195 on Friday, June 16. Alexander, who was staying at the residence, was reportedly unconscious, seizing and wearing only boxer shorts when he was found at approximately 3:45 a.m.

“Mr. Alexander had trauma to the back of his head, a small laceration on his right shoulder blade and other bruises,” Underwood said.

Anyone with information about Alexander’s death is asked to call Sgt. Anthony Leach at 302-6464.
