Second Walker County Football Media Day set for Friday

Posted

Players and coaches from all seven schools in the county will converge on Mr. Bean’s Restaurant for the second annual Walker County Football Media Day on Friday beginning at 10 a.m.

Media representatives from both the local and regional area have been invited and fans are welcomed and encouraged to attend to show support for their teams.

Coaches making their first appearance this year are Jasper’s Bryan Moore and Sumiton Christian’s Bart Black.

The Daily Mountain Eagle Elite preseason team will be announced at the conclusion of Media Day and Oakman head coach Mark Hastings, who will begin his 10th season at the helm of the Wildcats program, will be recognized for his dedication and service to the athletes under his direction.

Daily Mountain Eagle publisher James Phillips hopes the second Media Day proves as successful as last year’s, as well as enjoyable for the players, coaches and fans.

“We’re all very excited about moving Media Day to Mr. Bean’s this year. Last year’s Media Day was great, but we will have much more space at Mr. Bean’s and we feel it will be more conducive for a good audio experience for those fans watching it on Facebook. Butterbean and his staff provide an outstanding atmosphere and we know they’ll enjoy hosting Media Day as much as we will enjoy bringing it to the fans and supporters of all of our teams,” Phillips said.

“For us at the Eagle, Media Day is a wonderful way to promote high school football in Walker County, as well as the good things that are going on at their schools. We’re excited to meet our new coaches, as well as to talk to our returning coaches. Most of all, we’re always happy to hear from the players — these young men are picked to be representatives of their football programs and their schools and provide a unique perspective to our event.”

Cordova will begin Media Day at 10:15 a.m. and will be followed by Carbon Hill at 10:45, Oakman at 11:15, Dora at 11:45, Curry at 12:15 p.m., Sumiton Christian at 12:45 p.m. and concludes with Jasper at 1:15 p.m.
