Search warrant executed at Jasper pawn shop

Posted

A search warrant was executed at a Jasper pawn shop on Wednesday.

The Walker County Sheriff's Office (WCSO), Jasper Police Department, and Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office began the search just after 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bill's Pawn Shop, located at 205 Highway 78 West — just down the road from Jasper Mall.

Jasper Police Chief J.C. Poe confirmed the search to the Daily Mountain Eagle and said the city police department was assisting the sheriff's office and helping to maintain a secure perimeter. Poe said details about the search would need to come from the sheriff's office.

The WCSO released a statement Wednesday evening detailing the results of the search, saying that "several firearms and other items have already been seized. Our personnel is still currently going through almost 30 pages of evidence and serial numbers to determine the conclusion of the investigation."

The statement said the Sheriff's Office will be contacting the Birmingham Bureau of the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and the Beureau of Loans in Montgomery to determine compliance with rules or regulations.
