CURRY — No. 5 Curry wrapped up the regular-season area championship and won three home matches on Tuesday, moving to 46-6 in the process.

The Yellow Jackets won a pair of 4A, Area 12 matches, sweeping both Fayette County (25-21, 25-23, 25-11) and Cordova (25-17, 25-20, 25-9). The Yellow Jackets are 6-0 in area play.

Curry also earned a win over Sumiton Christian (25-12, 25-11).

For Curry, Grayson Evans had 30 kills with 11 digs, 10 aces and four blocks on the day. Allie Downs had 21 kills, six digs, six assists and five aces, Linley Tubbs had 13 kills, two blocks and two aces, Khloe Kimbrell added 63 assists, six kills, six aces, four digs and one block, Alayna Key had nine digs, seven aces and one kill, Emmalee Berry had nine kills and three blocks and Abbey Moon had nine kills, seven aces, three digs and two blocks.

Curry plays in Shrimp Festival Invitational in Gulf Shores this weekend.

No. 1 Jasper wins pair

Jasper swept its tri-match at Tuscaloosa County on Tuesday, beating both the host team and Chelsea.

Against Tuscaloosa County, the Lady Vikings won 25-21, 25-9. Jasper defeated Chelsea, the No. 5 team in Class 6A, 25-27, 27-25, 15-12.

For Jasper (46-8), McKinley Ferguson had 18 kills, four digs, four aces and three blocks, Alex Oliver had 20 kills, four blocks, four digs and an ace, Temperance Chatman had 45 assists, 10 digs and two aces, Kelsey Shelton had 10 digs, three blocks and two kills, Jordan Gilbert had nine kills and two blocks, Dayion Johnson had four blocks and a kill and Tryneti Chatman had 10 digs. Jasper plays a tri-match on Thursday at Cullman vs. the Lady Bearcats and Hazel Green, the No. 1 team in Class 6A.

No. 6 Carbon Hill beats

Lamar County

Carbon Hill earned a sweep of area foe Lamar County on the road Tuesday, winning 25-15, 25-19, 26-24.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improve to 27-15 on the season.

Sam Norris had 15 digs and 11 kills for the Lady Bulldogs, Hannah Dutton had 13 digs, 11 kills and two aces while Ivie Gibbons had 28 assists and six digs.

Carbon Hill will host Senior Night on Oct. 17 with a tri-match against Fayette County and Meek starting at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs will also host the area tournament on Oct. 21.

Carbon Hill split a tri-match on Monday, beating Cordova (25-21, 25-18) and falling to Winston County (25-19, 20-25, 18-16).

Norris had 18 digs, 16 kills and two aces on the day while Dutton had 30 digs, 11 kills and two aces, Crimson Stanger had 11 kills and one block and Anna McGinnis had 17 digs, six kills and an ace.
