Prep Volleyball: No. 1 Jasper sweeps its way to tournament title

Jasper swept its way to the Don Drummond Family 3rd Annual Invitational title at Carl Cannon Coliseum on Saturday, beating Buckhorn in the championship match.

Jasper, ranked No. 1 in Class 5A, went 6-0 on the day, beating four ranked teams. The Vikings defeated Arab (No. 9 in Class 5A), Austin, Buckhorn (No. 6 in Class 6A), Northridge (No. 10 in Class 6A) and Homewood (No. 9 in Class 6A) before beating Buckhorn for the second time in the championship match.

On the day, McKinley Ferguson had 46 kills, 17 assists, 12 aces, seven blocks and five digs for Jasper (44-8). Alex Oliver had 41 kills, 11 blocks, 10 aces, three assists and three digs, Jordan Gilbert had 25 kills and 22 blocks, Kelsey Shelton had 10 digs, seven kills and one ace, Temperance Chatman had 98 assists, five digs, one ace and one kill, Tryneti Chatman had seven digs, three assists and an ace and Dayion Johnson had seven aces and three kills. Jasper plays at Tuscaloosa County on Tuesday.
