Prep Softball: Sumiton Christian pulls away from Jasper

SUMITON — After falling behind the Jasper Vikings 2-1 in the top of the second inning on Monday, the Sumiton Christian Eagles scored 10 unanswered runs to secure an 11-2 victory at Aderholt Field in Sumiton.

Anna Calloway got the seven-inning win for the Eagles, giving up six hits, two runs and three walks, while striking out five batters.

At the plate, Jessie Baughan went a perfect 3 for 3 with three runs scored, two triples and an RBI, while Taylor Whisonant was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, three RBIs, two runs scored and a home run. Kaley McCrary went 2 for 4 with a run scored, a double and two RBIs, Sarah Hadder was 2 for 4 with a run scored, Amber Hayes went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI, Calloway had a hit with a run scored and an RBI, Angel Whitlow recorded a hit with a double, Addy Russell had a hit with an RBI and AK Tyree recorded a hit.

Lakelyn Turnbow pitched six innings for the Vikings with one strikeout.

Offensively for Jasper, Consondria Clay went 1 for 3 with a run scored, Khloe Kimbrell was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI and Mattie Hice had a hit.

Carbon Hill 16, Haleyville 5, five innings

Sarah Stovall pitched four and two-thirds innings in the win for the Bulldogs, giving up six hits, five runs, two walks with eight strikeouts. Karlie Ratliff pitched one-third inning.

Offensively, Abby Martin went a perfect 4 for 4 with three doubles, two runs scored and seven RBIs, Santana Clark was 3 for 3 with four runs scored, Ratliff went 3 for 4 with three runs scored, a double and five RBIs, Alleigh Keeton was 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, Allie Parr went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Mahaley Pugh was 1 for 2 with three runs scored, Alayna Ivie had a hit with an RBI, Adison Alexander recorded a hit and Ana Grace Guy and Ally Martin scored a run each.

Corner 6, Oakman 5

Ivey Hill recorded the win for Corner, giving up six hits and five runs, while recording five strikeouts.

At the plate for the Yellow Jackets, Lauren Higginbotham went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Jaden Goodwin was 2 for 3 with a double, Hill went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a double, Jiselle Woodson had a hit with a run scored, Brantly Bonds recorded a hit with two runs scored and Lauren Dill had a hit with two RBIs.

Katelyn Makemson pitched six and one-third innings for Oakman, recording four strikeouts.

Offensively for the Wildcats, Samantha Kelly was 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored, Iyana Canada went 1 for 3 with two runs scored, Chante Williams was 1 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI, Terrah Sherer and Shalayiah Waid both had a hit and Savannah Brown scored a run.
