Prep Softball: Oakman duo no hits Hanceville in area win

Peyton Willcutt and Katelyn Macobson combined to no-hit Hanceville on the road Wednesday as the Wildcats picked up a 9-2 victory in their Class 3A, Area 12 matchup.

Prep Softball: Oakman duo no hits Hanceville in area win

Peyton Willcutt and Katelyn Macobson combined to no-hit Hanceville on the road Wednesday as the Wildcats picked up a 9-2 victory in their Class 3A, Area 12 matchup.

Oakman (14-13-2 overall, 4-1 in area play) hosts Vinemont at 4 p.m. today in the area finale. A win would put the Wildcats in a first-place tie with Carbon Hill for the area lead.

In the circle, Willcutt went the first five innings, allowing one walk and striking out four. Macobson went the final two innings, allowing two runs, one earned, with four strikouts. The duo allowed one walk and hit two batters. Oakman also made two errors.

Against Hanceville, Madeline Custred was 4 for 5 at the plate with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs, Kylie Bolton was 3 for 3 with a run, Iyana Canada was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Allie Barrentine was 1 for 1 with two stolen bases, a run and two RBIs, Terrah Sherer was 1 for 1 with a double and two RBIs, Samantha Kelly was 1 for 3 with two runs, Malori Crowell was 1 for 3 with two runs and Willcutt was 1 for 4 with two stolen bases and an RBI.
