Jasper notched its first win of the season on Monday, blanking Dora 10-0 in their Class 5A, Area 11 matchup at Jasper High School.

Prep Softball: Jasper blanks Dora for first win

Jasper notched its first win of the season on Monday, blanking Dora 10-0 in their Class 5A, Area 11 matchup at Jasper High School.

For the Vikings, Ashton Prescott earned the win, allowing four hits and striking out one.

Offensively, Prescott had two singles, a sac fly and two RBIs, Faith Murray had two singles, two stolen bases and an RBI, Iyana Ivory had two singles, a stolen base and an RBI, Consondria Clay had a double and two RBIs, Ansley Laye had a single and two runs, Chloe Frazier had a single and an RBI, Ivee Grace Kelley added a walk and two runs and Makayla McClendon had a hit.

Jasper (1-4) lost three games in the Pelham Tournament over the weekend, falling to Jemison (4-1), Pelham (10-1) and Northside (7-5).

Against Jemison, Kelley had a pair of doubles. In the loss to Pelham, Isabella Brown was 2 for 3 with a double, Kelley was 1 for 2 with a run and Laye was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

In the Northside game, Kelley was 2 for 4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI, Prescott was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Ivory was 2 for 4 with a run, Frazier was 1 for 1 with two RBIs, Murray was 1 for 2 with a run and McClendon was 1 for 4 with an RBI.

Jasper is scheduled to host West Point today.

Oakman 4, Sulligent 1

Katelyn Makemson shutdown Sulligent in the circle and the Wildcats came up with clutch hits during a four-run second inning as Oakman earned a 4-1 home win over Sulligent on Monday.

Makemson allowed just three hits and one walk over seven innings, striking out eight.

Oakman (8-1) got all of its offense in the second. Terrah Sherer drove in Ashanti Stewart with the first run with an RBI single, Savannah Brown followed with a two-run double, plating both Makemson and Sherer. Belle Burkett brought Brown home with an RBI single for the 4-0 lead.

Sherer was 2 for 3 with a stolen base, a run and an RBI, Stewart was 2 for 3 with a run, Jade Bonner was 2 for 3 with a triple, Brown was 1 for 3 with a double, a run and two RBIs, Makemson was 1 for 3 with a run and Burkett was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Oakman is scheduled to host Sumiton Christian today.

Curry 7, Fayette County 0

Curry’s Mak Miller struck out 14 Fayette County batters to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 7-0 road victory on Monday.

Miller got the win, allowing five hits and four walks in seven innings.

Curry grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Linley Tubbs solo home run. The Jackets added two more runs in the second on a two-run single by Ambrey Taylor. The Yellow Jackets (9-3-1) added a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

Allie Downs led the offense, going 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI, Katelyn Scola was 2 for 3 with two runs, Taylor was 1 for 3 with three RBIs, Tubbs was 1 for 2 with a home run, two runs scored an RBI, Alayna Key was 1 for 4 with an RBI, Mollie Freeman was 1 for 4 with a run, Khloe Kimbrell was 1 for 1 and Kylee Trotter scored a run.

Curry hosts Haleyville on Thursday.

Northside 10, Carbon Hill 0, five innings

Carbon Hill was held to four hits in a 10-0 road loss to Northside on Monday.

Northside took control of the game with a four-run first inning.

For the Bulldogs (1-5-1), Santana Clark, Zana Aderholt, Alleigh Keeton and Alayna Ivie had hits.

Clark took the loss, allowing 10 runs, five earned, while striking out two in four innings.

Carbon Hill hosts Winfield on Thursday.

Hayden 12, Corner 0, five innings

Defending state champion Hayden held Corner to two hits in a 12-0, five-inning home win on Monday.

Hayden scored nine runs in the fourth inning to turn a 3-0 game into a runaway.

For Corner, Jaden Goodwin and Jessica Shubert had hits.

Olivia Cummings took the loss, allowing eight runs, seven earned, while striking out three in 3 2/3 innings.

Corner plays at Jasper on Thursday.
