OAKMAN — The Sumiton Christian Eagles drove in four runs in the seventh inning to help clinch a 7-1 victory over the Oakman Wildcats on Tuesday at Oakman.

Prep Softball: Hall leads Sumiton Christian past Oakman

OAKMAN — The Sumiton Christian Eagles drove in four runs in the seventh inning to help clinch a 7-1 victory over the Oakman Wildcats on Tuesday at Oakman.

Ballie Hall got the win for the Eagles, giving up one run on five hits and a walk, while striking out 10 batters.

At the plate for Sumiton Christian, Gracie Ashley went 2 for 3 with a run scored, two RBIs and a double, Izzy Ingle was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Hall went 2 for 3 with a run scored, Kaley McCrary was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Jessie Baughan recorded a hit with a run scored and an RBI, Madison McCrary and Addy Russell both had a hit with a run scored, Taylor Whisonant had a two-run double with a run scored and Sarah Hadder scored a run.

Jessy Aston pitched four innings for Oakman (8-2), striking out two batters. Katelyn Makemson pitched the final three innings in relief, recording one strikeout.

Offensively for Oakman, Jade Bonner went 2 for 3 with a run scored, Ashanti Stewart had a run with an RBI and Savannah Brown and Belle Burkett recorded a hit each.

After a scoreless first inning, Ingle drove in Hadder on a single in the top of the second to put the Eagles on top, 1-0.

Sumiton Christian (5-3) added two runs to its lead in the top of the fourth inning on an Ashley double, 3-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Wildcats got on the scoreboard with Stewart driving in Bonner on a single to close to within two, 3-1.

The Eagles’ offense caught fire in the top of the seventh, with an RBI single by Baughan, a two-run double by Whisonant and a sacrifice RBI by Kaley McCrary to secure the 7-1 win.

Sumiton Christian travels to Spain Park today while Oakman travels to Corner.

Lamar County 5, Carbon Hill 1

Santana Clark pitched six innings in the loss for Carbon Hill, giving up three hits and recording three strikeouts.

At the plate, Ana Grace Guy was 3 for 3 with a double, Alleigh Keeton had a solo home run and Clark, Crimson Stanger and Mahaley Pugh each had a hit.

Carbon Hill hosts Winfield on Thursday.
