Prep Softball: Corner picks up area win over Jasper

Corner scored 11 runs over the first three innings en route to a 12-1, five-inning road win over area foe Jasper on Thursday.
 
Mackenzie Self went the final four innings for Corner (9-4), giving up two hits and a walk while striking out three. Olivia Cummings got the start and went one inning.  
 
Offensively, Jaden Goodwin led Corner’s potent offense, going 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, Lauren Higginbotham was 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Payton Cox was 2 for 3 with two runs, Olivia Cumming was 2 for 3 with a double, Anna Hinkle was 1 for 3 with two runs, Lauren Dill was 1 for 4 with a run and two RBIs and Jessica Shubert was 1 for 1 with two runs and an RBI.
 
For Jasper (2-6), Ashton Prescott took the loss, striking out two in 2 1/3 innings.

No. 2 Sumiton Christian 4, Cordova 1
 
Sumiton Christian picked up a 4-1 win over Cordova in Jasper on Thursday behind pitcher Ballie Hall.
 
Hall struck out 16 and allowed just two hits and no walks as the Eagles picked up their second stright win.
 
The Eagles (6-2) scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the third. 
 
Jesse Baughan led the offense, going 2 for 3 with a stolen base, a double and two runs, Taylor Whisonant was 1 for 3 with a run and three RBIs and Maddie McCrary was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
 
For Cordova, both Shayna Woods and Gracie Trotter finished 1 for 3 and McKinsey Boteler scored a run.

Oakman 15, Lamar County 10
 
Oakman erupted for nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Lamar County 15-10 at Oakman High School on Thursday.
 
The Wildcats trailed 10-6 after Lamar County scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning.
 
Savannah Brown, Belle Burkett, Ashanti Stewart, Terrah Sherer and Shalayiah Waid and Katelyn Makemson had RBIs i the inning. 
 
Bailey Webb was 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Oakman, Brown was 2 for 5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, Burkett was 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI, Jade Bonner was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Sherer was 2 for 4 with two doubles, a run and two RBIs, Waid was 2 for 4 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs, Stewart was 1 for 4 with a run and two RBIs and Sadie Ford scored two runs.

Carbon Hill 12, Winfield 4
 
Crimson Stranger went 3 for 4 with two runs scored, three RBIs and a homerun in the Carbon Hill Bulldogs 12-4 win over the Winfield on Thursday.
 
Santana Clark won the victory for the Bulldogs, giving up three earned runs and a walk while striking out two batters.
 
At the plate, Ana Grace Guy went 3 for 4 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a double, Clark was 1 for 2 with two runs scores, two RBIs and a double, Alayna Ivie recorded a hit with a run scored and three RBIs, Haleigh Lamon had a hit with two runs scored, Zana Aderholt recorded a hit with two runs scored, Raelea Guy had a hit and Alleigh Keeton scored a run.
