Katie Moore and Molly Kate Atkins hit home runs and Carbon Hill needed nine innings to get past Hamilton 13-12 in a slugfest at Hamilton High School on Thursday.

Carbon Hill (21-17) led 10-5 going into the bottom of the seventh before the Aggies pushed across five runs to send the game into extra innings.

Both teams scored a run in the eighth. Carbon Hill scored two runs in the top of the ninth and held Hamilton to one run in the bottom of the inning to earn the win.

Atkins finished the game 3 for 5 with a double, a home run, three runs and an RBI, Moore belted her first career home run and finished 1 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs, Karlie Ratliff was 3 for 5 with a double, four runs and an RBI, Makindle McGough was 3 for 5 with a double and four RBIs, Alayna Ivie was 3 for 5 with a run, Santana Clark was 2 for 4 with two runs, Abby Martin was 2 for 5 and Adison Alexander was 1 for 3.

Ratliff started the game, allowing five runs, four earned on eight hits and four walks while striking out four in five innings. Clark got the win, giving up seven runs, five earned, on four hits and two walks in four innings.

Carbon Hill plays Oakman in the Walker County Softball Tournament at 4 p.m. today at Curry High School.

Oakman 15, Vinemont 0, four innings

Oakman scored seven runs in both the third and fourth innings, routing the visiting Vinemont Eagles 15-0 in four innings on Thursday.

With the win, the Wildcats close out the Class 3A, Area 12 schedule tied with Carbon Hill atop the standings with a 5-1 mark.

Allie Barrentine finished 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and three runs, Madeline Custred was 2 for 2 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs, Iyana Canada was 2 for 2 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs, Samantha Kelly was 2 for 3 with a triple, one run and five RBIs, Peyton Willcutt was 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs, Chante Williams was 1 for 2 with two runs and an RBI and Riley Brown was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Willcutt got the win in the circle, allowing no hits and striking out six. Katelyn Macobson allowing three hits and striking out one in one inning.

Walker 9, Hamilton 1

Mabry Norris tossed a two-hitter in the circle as Walker picked up a 9-1 road victory over Hamilton on Thursday.

Mia Griffin finished with three doubles, three runs and three RBIs, Khloe Kimbrell hit a two-run home run, Blake Burton hit a home run, Ansley Laye had a double and two RBIs, Norris had two doubles and two RBIs, Abby Trotter had a double and an RBI, Lilli Ergle had a single and a run, Kelsey Shelton scored a run and Temperance Chatman added a single and a walk.

Walker (16-7-1) plays in the Hueytown tournament today and Saturday.
