Carbon Hill heads into the county tournament with some momentum following a narrow 63-61 home win over Haleyville on Monday.

The Bulldogs were led by the duo of Gage Jean and Isaac Woodard, which combined for 50 points on the night. Jean put in a season high 26 points while Woodard added 24.

The win snapped Carbon Hill's three-game losing streak and gave the Bulldogs the season sweep of Haleyville. Carbon Hill won the first meeting between the teams 47-40 on the road in early December.

Carbon Hill (9-14) opens play in the Walker County Tournament against host team Cordova at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Mortimer Jordan 61, Dora 54, OT

Mortimer Jordan held off Dora 61-54 in overtime on Monday night in Kimberly in the Class 5A, Area 11 finale for both teams.

The teams were tied at the end of the second, third and fourth quarters. Mortimer Jordan, which closes area play with a perfect 8-0 record, led 9-4 after the opening quarter. The teams were notched at 19-19 at the half, 31-31 after three quarters and 46-46 at the end of regulation.

The Blue Devils outscored Dora 15-8 in the extra frame, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers and going 7 of 10 at the free-throw line.

Jaymon Parker paced Dora with 14 points, Averiun Berry added 13 points, all after halftime, and Brent Geeter added 10.

For Mortimer Jordan (12-11, 8-0), Ronnie Wright had 22 points and Joshua Burns had 11.

Dora (11-13, 3-5) plays again on Friday vs. Curry at 6 p.m. in the Walker County Tournament at Cordova High School.

Lynn 61, Berry 50

Lynn's Noah Jackson erupted for 37 points, crossing the 1,000-point barrier in the process, as the Bears earned a 61-50 victory at Berry on Monday night.

Entering the game, Jackson needed 16 point to reach the milestone.

Lynn held a slim 28-24 halftime lead before pulling away in the second half. The Bears outscored Berry 21-10 in the third quarter to take control.

Brandon Hill added nine points for the Bears and Lance Harris put in eight.

Lynn (13-9) plays Meek at 7 p.m. Friday night in the Winston County Tournament at Lynn High School.
