Jasper drew even with Mortimer Jordan atop the area standings with a 57-35 rout of the Blue Devils at Carl Cannon Coliseum on Tuesday night.
The Vikings took control in the opening quarter and never looked back. Both teams now have one loss in area play. Jasper is 4-1 while Mortimer Jordan is 3-1.
Jasper led 13-6 after the opening quarter. Anthony Harris had five points in the period while Antione Harris added four points. The Vikings took command in the second quarter with both Antione Harris and John David Harrell scoring four points as Jasper built a 28-16 halftime lead. In the third quarter, Brent Geeter buried a pair of 3-pointers and the Vikings outscored the Blue Devils 16-7 for a commanding 44-23 lead going into the final quarter.
Eleven different players scored for Jasper (9-8) on Tuesday, led by Antione Harris with 10, Anthony Harris put in nine, John David Harrell had eight points, Brent Geeter added seven while Trinity Epps, Drew Martin, Averiun Berry and Denzel Chatman each had four points, Kaden Shelton put in three and both EJ Colbert and Harrison Saunders had two points.  
Jasper lost the first meeting, 78-65, at Mortimer Jordan on Dec. 6. The Vikings have three area games remaining — at Hayden on Friday, home against Corner on Jan. 21 and at Dora on Jan. 28.
Mortimer Jordan, which has lost five straight games, fell to 8-12, 3-1. The Blue Devils play at Dora in another region game on Friday.

Carbon Hill 67, Lamar County 50
Carbon Hill’s Ishmael Jones scored all 22 of his points in the second half, leading the Bulldogs to a 67-50 area road win over Lamar County on Tuesday night.
With the win, Carbon Hill (11-9) moved to 2-1 in Class 3A, Area 10.
Carbon Hill led 13-9 after the first quarter and pushed the lead to 31-18 at the half. The Bulldogs took a 46-35 lead into the final quarter. For Carbon Hill, Haden Pare had 15 points, Alex Atkins had 10, Matthew Wallace added nine and Josh Kilgore put in seven.
Carbon Hill plays another area game at Winfield on Friday.

Sumiton Christian 60, Tarrant 39
The Eagles opened up Class 2A, Area 10 play with a 60-39 road win over Tarrant on Tuesday night.
Sumiton Christian held the Wildcats to three points in the second quarter to take control. The Eagles led 19-11 after the first quarter and 32-14 at the half.
For Sumiton Christian (14-6), Isaiah Wright had 21 points, Cody Long had 17 and Jeremy Brown added 12. The Eagles hit the road for another area game at Vincent on Friday.

Curry 57, Oak Grove 18
Abbey Moon scored her 1,000th career point and finished with 24 as the Curry Yellow Jackets picked up a lopsided 57-18 win over Oak Grove on Tuesday night.
Moon had 11 points in the opening quarter and passed the century mark with a free throw in the fourth quarter. She entered the game needing 22 points for 1,000.
Curry led 15-8 after the opening quarter, 36-12 at the half and 53-14 going into the final quarter.
For the Jackets (14-3), Alayna Key had 11 points, Cam Wright, Allie Downs, Grayson Evans, Laycee Cordell and Emma Martin each had four and Anna Reese Woodley added two.
Curry hosts Corner on Thursday.
